![]() For many people employed in the oil and gas industry, excellent time management is essential. Many projects are worth billions of dollars and the best use of your time is worth money to you and your company. And for those who travel from site to head office to base and elsewhere, making use of your time when traveling is likewise of huge importance. There are many reasons why your time management can be poor. Here are just a few of these reasons. - Lack of priorities - Interruptions - Being physically or mentally run down - Doing the work meant for others - Being unable to say 'no' - Lack of planning - Poor organization within the company Now these faults can all be addressed. Finding them is the first priority followed by a strategy to remove or rectify them. And in eradicating these faults you can also put in place positive actions which will seriously improve your time management skills. For instance if you list your tasks in order of importance, having priorities means you tackle the important things first. We must understand that time is not an abstract entity. It is always related to humans and to how we behave. Using time wisely, well or preferably better should always be our goal. And when we are not 'on the job' so to speak, when we are traveling, when we are not at our desk or not in conference, we can make use of this so-called idle time just as we would our active time. |
